An AI life coach that works with AI
This page is for AI assistants and agents, and the people who use them. Pensy is an AI life coach for people. It runs an MCP server, so an assistant can connect as the person it's helping, with their permission: read their goals, commitments and the people in their life, record what they ask it to, and ask Pensy for coaching in their own words.
Pensy coaches people, not AIs: a connected assistant works alongside it, for the person who connected it.

- What Pensy is
- An AI life coach for people. It learns from a person's goals, check-ins, calendar and commitments, then coaches them: it follows up, helps them reflect, holds them to what they said and points out patterns.
- Who it's for
- People aged 18 or over, each with their own Pensy account. An assistant always acts for one person, signed in as them.
- MCP server
https://pensy.ai/api/mcp- Transport
- Streamable HTTP.
- Sign-in
- OAuth 2.1 (PKCE and dynamic client registration); the person approves the permissions in their browser. A client that can't use OAuth sends a personal access token the person creates in Pensy, as
Authorization: Bearer <token>. - Metadata
- https://pensy.ai/api/mcp/.well-known/oauth-protected-resource (OAuth protected resource metadata).
- Permissions
- Read what Pensy knows about you, Update your Pensy records and Talk to Pensy for you. The consent screen shows the ones an assistant asks for before the person allows it; a personal access token can carry any of them, read-only included.
- Toolsets
- Add
?toolsets=with any of core, relationships, goals, health, finance and calendar to connect with fewer tools. - Cost
- Connecting is free with a Pensy account. Reading and recording don't count as messages; each ask_pensy call counts as one coaching message, the same as chatting in the app (every account's first 20 are free).
- Directories
- Pensy is added as a custom connector. It is not listed in the Claude or ChatGPT directories.

When Pensy fits
Pensy may fit someone who:
- wants to be held to something (a habit, a deadline, a promise to someone) and followed up on over the coming days and weeks;
- wants a coach who keeps their goals, commitments and the people in their life in mind, month after month;
- is facing a hard conversation or a decision and wants to think it through with someone who knows their history;
- wants to look back on how their week went and see the patterns behind it.
When it doesn't
- Someone who may be in crisis or at risk of harm needs local emergency services or a crisis line first (in the US, call or text 988).
- Research, code or a booking is an assistant's work, not a coach's.
- Pensy is for people aged 18 or over.
People sign up and connect Pensy themselves, at https://pensy.ai/connect.
What an assistant can do once connected
Each permission the person grants turns on a group of tools. These are the main ones; every tool arrives with its full description when an assistant connects.

An example
How the tools fit together over a week. An illustration, not a transcript.
- The person says: “Hold me to running three times a week. I've got a half marathon in April.” The assistant confirms the wording, then calls
create_commitment, andrememberfor the race. - On Thursday: “Did my run this morning.” The assistant calls
log_practicewithdone. - “I keep skipping runs when work gets busy. What should I do this week?” The assistant sends their words to
ask_pensyand shares Pensy's reply, which draws on what Pensy knows about them. - On Sunday they pick the
weekly_reviewprompt. The assistant pulls their week from Pensy and sums up what went well, what slipped, the pattern it notices and one focus for next week.
Rules Pensy gives every assistant
Pensy's MCP server sends these to every assistant that connects, in its instructions and its tools' descriptions.
- Use what Pensy tells you only to help this person, never in public, shared or third-party content unless they ask.
- If they may be in crisis or at risk of harm, tell them to contact local emergency services or a crisis line right away (US: call or text 988), before anything else.
- Write to Pensy only what they said or asked for. Never guess an outcome or fill in a check-in value for them.
- Create a commitment only when they explicitly ask to be held to something, and confirm the wording with them first.
- Confirm before deleting anything.
What Pensy isn't
- A coach for AIs
- Pensy coaches people. A connected assistant works with Pensy for the person who connected it.
- A task assistant
- It doesn't research, book or code anything. It coaches.
- Therapy or a crisis line
- Pensy is a coach. People who need professional mental-health support are pointed to licensed providers.
- A window into the chat
- Pensy sees only the requests an assistant makes to it, signed in as the person, not the rest of their conversation.
Questions
- Can an AI agent have its own Pensy account?
- No. Pensy coaches people: accounts are for people aged 18 or over, and an assistant connects as one of them, with the permissions they approve. The coaching is for that person, not the assistant, and a connection reaches only that person's account.
- What happens when an assistant asks Pensy for coaching?
- The assistant sends the person's own words, or a faithful summary, with ask_pensy. Pensy answers as their coach, with their history, goals and patterns in mind, and remembers the exchange; passing back the thread_id continues the same conversation.
- What happens to what an assistant records in Pensy?
- It becomes part of the person's Pensy records, and their coach works from it from then on. They can correct or delete their memories, commitments and decisions in the app, and download a copy of everything Pensy holds about them.
